How Did Trump Divide The Republican Party To Reclaim Its Mantle?

Estimated read time 2 min read

Despite allegations of rape and sexual assault, criminal convictions and cases pending, being impeached twice, thuggish bullying nature, incessant lying, accused of fascism, displays of anger and petulance, instigating the attack on the Capitol and an assault on our democracy, and a litany of other character flaws, how did he manage to become the nominee of the Republican Party again?

Well, he simply used the same tactics used by authoritarians and conmen throughout history – appeal to people’s base instincts like fear, anger, anxiety, uncertainty, greed, selfishness, hate, false hope, a sense of supremacy, and by corrupting them with the promise of power and wealth.

So what is his party made up of now?

  • Patriots – The moderates and the real Republicans who had the guts to impeach him and were mostly kicked out of the party. The few who remain choosing to bide their time until he is gone.
  • Fanatics – Those who truly believe that Trump is God or is the second coming and is infallible.
  • Optimists – Smart, educated people who know Trump is practically evil, but think that Republican policies & our democratic structure will prevail. In theory that is.
  • Opportunists – The selfish and the cunning who know that Trump is a psycho but will support him just for their own personal and political benefit no matter what the cost.
  • Gullible – Those who are poor, or not educated enough or just don’t know any better – swindled by a lying conman.
  • Haters – Those who absolutely hate the idea of a Democrat coming to power again because of some stupid things the Dems have done in the past and continue to do.
  • Racists – Those who can never ever vote for a non-white person. Ever.
  • The rest – Everyone else with infinite BS excuses who can’t think for themselves.

This is not the Republican Party of Reagan anymore, it is a TRUMPIST CULT.

Hopefully one day, when Trump’s poisonous, corrupting influence leaves the party for good, we the moderates and independents will vote for Republicans once again.
